Description: We are proud to be celebrating our 181st annual fair. Some of our annual events include animal pulls, car show, parade, horse show, crafts, live entertainment and doodlebug pulls. Features for the family include frog jumping contest, corn and pie eating contest, skillet toss and much more.  Other family friendly attractions include the mini farm, food for every palette, games and rides.

Event: 5th Annual Beer & Oysters on the Sound
Venue: Lighthouse Point Carousel – New Haven

Description: Savor oysters and sample a growing selection of beer from local breweries, micro-breweries and home-brewers while overlooking Long Island Sound. Event: 32nd Annual Apple Festival
Venue: Johnston Memorial Park– Johnston

Description:The Apple Festival draws thousands of people over the weekend and fills Johnston Memorial Park with music, laughter, the scent of apple pies and great food. Special features include an apple pie baking contest, shopping at artisan row, live entertainment, pony and amusement rides. FREE Parking is available at Johnston High School (345 Cherry Hill Road) with Complimentary Shuttle Service.

Event: Afternoon Tea with a Dash of Local History
Venue: Smith’s Castle – North Kingstown
Date: September 15
Description: Smith’s Castle’s popular Afternoon Teas continue on Sunday September 15that 4:00 pm.  Mary Katherine Goddard (as interpreted by Marilyn Harris, Castle Docent) will host the event and share her memories of her mother, Sarah Updike Goddard, and her family’s contribution to the American Revolution. As owners and editors of the first Providence, RI newspaper, they helped to shape public opinion favoring the cause. Mary Katherine also has the distinction of being the only woman whose name appears on the printed and widely circulated Goddard Broadside, first copy of the Declaration of Independence to also contain the names of the signees.
