Event: Old Lyme Midsummer Festival

Description: Cultural and social service organizations partner with local artists and businesses to celebrate the arts in Old Lyme with a mix of music, art exhibitions, and food. In its over 30 years the festival has grown in visitation and offerings, but has always stayed true to its mission of highlighting the culture of the community. Event begins with a Friday evening outdoor concert and dancing at the Florence Griswold Museum (96 Lyme Street). Saturdays activities include art exhibitions and sales, food trucks, musical performances, artisan fairs, book signings and sales, domestic farm animals and hands-on children’s activities.
Event: 59th Annual Summer Book Sale
Venue: Pequot Library – Southport
Date: July 26-30
Description: One of the largest book sales in New England with more than 100,000 books, plus CDs, DVDs, records, and unique Specials. All items gently used and donated to Pequot Library. Over 60 categories, including your favorites: Biography, Children/Young Adult, Cookbooks, Fiction, Signed Books, Specials, and so much more. Proceeds directly fund Pequot Library’s annual educational programs, events, and services.
Event: 43rd Save The Bay Swim
Venue: Newport Navy Base to Potter Cove – Newport

Description: Save The Bay Swim is Save The Bay’s largest annual fundraiser, approximately 500 swimmers and 200 kayakers tackle a 1.7 nautical mile open water journey across Narragansett Bay to raise not only funds but awareness to support our ongoing restoration, protection and advocacy efforts. In its 43rd year, the Swim, once featuring swimmers tackling oil- and tar-ball-filled waters now serve as a celebration of the recreational benefits of protecting local waters. Year after year this open water swim gathers swimmers and volunteers from across the country to support Save The Bay in this amazing test of fitness.
Event: Alpine Summer Carnival
Venue: Ocean House – Westerly

Description: In honor of Swiss Independence Day, Ocean House invites young and old to a family affair dedicated to celebrating sweet summertime and the delights of Alpine Europe. With food, entertainment, classic carnival games and plenty of surprises, this spirited soirée is a fun way to spend an evening by the sea.Please keep in mind, seating for this event is assigned. Description: New Rochelle is having a Parade & Rally on Saturday, July 27th at 10 AM to honor and celebrate Mariano Rivera for his induction into the National Baseball Hall of Fame. The parade will begin at City Hall and end at Hudson Park and will be followed by festivities at the Band Shell. It is the perfect event for people of all ages!
