Wallingford, CT – Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New England Properties is pleased to announce the successful sale through auction of the historic Restmore Estate, located at 375 Warner Hill Road in Southport, Connecticut. This transaction marks the first real estate sale as part of their ongoing partnership with Doyle Auctioneers & Appraisers.
Commissioned in 1910 by Dr. Ira DeVer Warner, Sr., founder of Warner Brother’s Women’s Apparel Co. of Bridgeport; the custom-designed Cape Dutch style home was built in 1911 by renowned architect Ehrick Kensett Rossiter and was recognized in 2009 by the National Register of Historic Places. It was designed after “Groote Schuur”, the Cape Town, South Africa summer estate of Cecil J. Rhodes, Britain’s famed “Empire Builder”.
