Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New England Properties Announces Sale Through Auction of Historic Restmore Estate in Southport.

Wallingford, CT – Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New England Properties is pleased to announce the successful sale through auction of the historic Restmore Estate, located at 375 Warner Hill Road in Southport, Connecticut. This transaction marks the first real estate sale as part of their ongoing partnership with Doyle Auctioneers & Appraisers.

Commissioned in 1910 by Dr. Ira DeVer Warner, Sr., founder of Warner Brother’s Women’s Apparel Co. of Bridgeport; the custom-designed Cape Dutch style home was built in 1911 by renowned architect Ehrick Kensett Rossiter and was recognized in 2009 by the National Register of Historic Places. It was designed after “Groote Schuur”, the Cape Town, South Africa summer estate of Cecil J. Rhodes, Britain’s famed “Empire Builder”.

“We had been searching for the right auction partner and found the one in Doyle; apart from their vast network, the fact that the real estate expert, the listing agent, is the main contact for the interested buyers sets them apart from the rest. The sales executive and sellers are in control; that kind flexibility and local expertise can’t be found anywhere else,” said Candace Adams, President and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New England, New York and Westchester Properties. “The additional exposure to Doyle’s client network created a flurry of activity and sparked more interest (for the property) in the month of October than in many months prior. A few of the potential buyers were local to Connecticut but found out about the sale through Doyle marketing initiatives,” Adams concluded.

For the past ten years, Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New England Properties has partnered with Doyle to offer superior auction services for their seller’s personal property. The partnership has now expanded to include residential real estate auctions.

Doyle and the Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices’ Marketing Department developed a strategic marketing plan for the home. This comprehensive campaign was implemented across multiple platforms, ensuring that both the home and the upcoming auction received the broadest exposure, nationally and internationally.

“Auctions are a call to action!  We were thrilled at the global interest in and the successful outcome of our inaugural Real Estate Auction. It was a true team effort between Doyle and Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices New England Properties,” said Laura Doyle, Vice Chairman of Doyle.

Auction services took place in addition to Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices’ regular sales activities and marketing initiatives including listing syndication, advertising, open houses and tours of the property to interested parties. What sets this program apart is the fact that the sales executives remain the sole point of contact for all buyer inquiries. They also collaborate on the vetting of bidders and conduct negotiations regarding contract and sale of the property on the day of the auction.
