Event: Haunted Forest
Venue:  Audubon Greenwich – Greenwich
Date: October 26-27
Description: Halloween Fun and Nature come together for Audubon Greenwich’s annual Halloween Weekend! For two nights, the trails of the center’s nature preserve will be transformed into both a Haunted Forest Walk for people looking for a scare and an Enchanted Meadow costume walk for children. The Frightful Forest will be held both Friday and Saturday from 6:30 p.m.-9:30 p.m. and features a host of ghoulish animals and people lurking behind the trees of the forest. For children looking for scare-free fun, other activities will include a bake sale and bonfire with s’mores. Attendees will get to meet live animals up close with two Creepy Crawly Critter Shows. October 26:
Creepy-Crawly-Critter shows: 6:15 p.m.-7:15 p.m. & 7:30 p.m.-8:30 p.m. They slither, and crawl, some have scales, some are a hairy! This creature show is the perfect kind of scary. Haunted Forest Walk: 6:30 p.m.-9 p.m. Test your wits on a trail full of Ghouls, Gasps, and Fright. Watch the woods come alive with creatures of the night. VERY SCARY- Proceed with Caution

Event: Haunted River – Ghostly Tales & Valley Lore
Venue:  Connecticut River Museum – Essex
Date: October 26-28
Description: Disasters, murderers, and unexplainable pheonomena are just a few of the things lurking in the shadows at the Connecticut River Museum. Haunted River is a theatrical production. A “River Spirit” is called upon to guide visitors safely from scene to scene while sharing its own dark and mysterious tale. Tours leave every 20 minutes between 6 p.m and 8:40 p.m. Please note: the museum’s parking lot will be closed for this event, parking is available in town for visitors. If someone in your party has mobility issues, please contact the museum for special arrangements.

Description: he tradition of hunting and fishing in America has been with us since the founding of the country when fish and game formed a crucial part of the food that kept the colonies alive.  From the time when Alfred Augustus Reed, Jr. served on the first Rhode Island Commission of Inland Fisheries in the late 1800s, to the Clouds Hill gamekeeper raising pheasants and chukar partridge for stocking on the estate and elsewhere during the first half of the twentieth century, and the 4th generation owner’s service as a Rhode Island game warden from the 1970s to 1993, the family has been actively involved in fishing and hunting.  If you have always wanted to try game dishes – or are already a fan of them – this dinner presents game as you have never imagined it could taste!

Event: The Unsilent Picture

Description: A curiosity of live music and movie mystery featuring an original silent film starring Bill Irwin, accompanied by live musicians and an in-the-flesh special effects Foley artist. Steeped in dark and moody turn-of-the-19th-century atmosphere, “The Unsilent Picture” unbends reality in the true spirit of Sleepy Hollow. Inspired by Washington Irving’s spooky tale “The Adventure of the Mysterious Picture,” the film was shot on location in the historic buildings of nearby Van Cortland Manor. Screenings at 6:15, 7:15, 8:15, 9:15. Recommended for ages 10 and up.
