Description: Outdoor family festival with more than 600,000 daffodils on display in the historic Hubbard Park. Enjoy continuous live music on three stages, the Silver Fork Food Tent – culinary delicacies from the community’s non-profit entities, the premier parade, arts and crafts area, children’s activities, a carnival for the children, spectacular fireworks and much more.
Event: 5th Annual Barkhamstead Earth Day Nature Festival
Venue: People’s State Forest – Barkhamstead
Date: April 29
Description: The Town of Barkhamsted honors Mother Nature with its 5th annual Barkhamsted Earth Day Nature Festival. The area will be abuzz with activities including talks on native plants that attract birds, Monarch butterflies, sustainable farming, recycling, beekeeping, bears and other wild animals, salamanders, turtles, snakes and loads of other interesting things. Free pizza from the Riverton General Store, free hot dogs, munchies, baked goods and music by The Travelin’ Trout. A Falconry and Birds of Prey show will be presented by Christine’s Critters at 4 p.m. Sponsored by the Town of Barkhamsted’s Conservation and Economic Development Commissions and the Lion’s Club.
Event: Beekeeping: A Year in the Life of a Hive
Venue: Blithewold Mansion, Gardens and Arboretum – Bristol
Date: April 27
Description: Blithewold’s beekeepers, Mark Hilyard and Kevin Kennedy will be on-site to give a talk that discusses the beekeeping process, an overview of a year in the life of a beehive, and what makes Blithewold a special place for keeping bees. Guests will have the opportunity to explore beekeeping equipment and weather permitting, walk out to the apiary to view the hives from a safe distance. No special gear is required.
Event: 20th Annual Pawcatuck River Duck Race
Venue: Downtown – Westerly

Description: 20,000 rubber ducks are dumped into the Pawcatuck River on the Westerly, Rhode Island, and Pawcatuck, Connecticut border for a race that benefits 40+ local charities. Children’s games, rides, food booths, and other activities make this a wonderful family event. Event: 2018 Mutts on the Mountain
Venue: Blue Mountain Reservation – Peeksill

Description: Benefiting Westchester Parks Foundation, the Mutts on the Mountain 5K Trail Race and 1M Fun Run is a one-of-a-kind event allowing participants to run/walk with their favorite canine companion. Funds raised support Westchester Parks Foundation’s mission to engage the public to advocate for and invest in the preservation, conservation, use and enjoyment of the 18,000 acres of parks, trails, and open space within the Westchester County Parks system. This is a not-to-be-missed event for hikers, joggers, runners, and of course your well-behaved four legged friend.

Description: Discover and shop for exceptional quality handcrafted gifts for Mother’s Day exclusively from the local artisans and makers of the Northeast Etsy Artists Association. This is an exciting one-day spring shopping experience for the entire family. Thirteen artists from the team will be on hand to sell their handmade creations of jewelry, all-natural soaps and skincare, functional works in ceramics and glass, fabric accessories, paintings, fine art prints and note cards, embellished journals, crochet wear, felt art dolls and more! Children can create their very own Mother’s Day greeting card at our Make ‘n Take Activity table. A percentage of sales proceeds will go to benefit the Friends of the Ossining Public Library, a non-profit group of volunteers who support the activities and goals of the library.
