Event: Winter Eagle Watch
Venue: The Audubon Shop – Madison

Description: Winter’s cold brings dozens of Bald Eagles down the Connecticut River from Canada in search of ice – free fishing, in recent years, more than 50 eagles have wintered on the lower Connecticut River. Their six to eight foot wing spam make the Bald Eagle the largest predator in North America. Leader Jerry Connolly of The Audubon Shop will help participants spot eagles from a variety of locations on the river, and will discuss the bird’s natural history on this land – based trip. We’ll also spot ducks, birds of prey and songbirds and whatever else comes into view. Pre-registration required. Your $25 ticket includes a delicious soup and sandwich luncheon at Otter Cove Restaurant in Old Saybrook, CT. *Carpool from The Audubon Shop in Madison at 7:45 a.m. – or – meet at first stop (Eagle Landing State Park in Haddam) at 8:30 a.m.
Event: Connecticut Flower and Garden Show
Venue: Connecticut Convention Center – Hartford

Description: The colorful, fragant show covers almost three acre with the 2018 theme, “Breath of Spring, ” with creative and practical ideas for house, apartment and condo dwellers alike. Highlight include:
– Over an acre of gardens in full bloom, created by professional landscape designers and nonprofit organizations, and include naturalistic, low maintenance, native, organic, herb and pollinator gardents.
– The Federated Garden Clubs of Connecticut’s 2018 Advance Standard Flower Show: more than 12,000 square feet of a design, horticulture and photography competition with more than 250 judged entries, all with the “Woodland Enchantment” theme.
– Over 300 booths of displays, activities, and shopping.
– More than 80 hours of seminars.

Event: 13th Annual Illuminated Garden
Venue: Ballard Park – Middletown

Description: Friends of Ballard Park will present the 13th Annual Illuminated Garden in Ballard Park’s quarry meadow (weather permitting). This free event features thousands of lights and sculptures designed by students enrolled at All Saints Academy, Rogers High School, St. Michael’s Country Day School and Lawn Avenue Elementary School. Parking is available in the Rogers High School parking lot at 15 Wickham Road. Event goers will then walk a quarter mile down Hazard Road. Bring a flashlight to guide your way and wear sturdy boots as trails may be dark, muddy and uneven in places. The free event is sponsored by Bartlett Tree Experts, the City of Newport, Kiki Finn, National Gird, the Rhode Island State Council on the Arts and the Rhode Island State Senate and co-sponsored by A1 Roofing, CAT Entertainment, Discover Newport, the Fitzpatrick Team, McGrath Clambakes, Inc., Newport Insurance Agency, TJ Brown Landscape and Whitehouse for Senate.
Event: Orchid Dreams
Venue: Lasdon Park – Katonah
Date: February 23rd-25th
Description: More than 200 flowering tropical orchids will be assembled in the Lasdon Park Conservatory. The exhibit will also feature interpretive signs to help the visitor understand these beautiful plants. The exhibit will run through March 18. It will be open to the public Tuesdays through Sundays, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Weekday tickets are $5 for adults and $2 for children, 12 and under; weekends and Presidents Day (Monday, Feb. 19), tickets are $7 for adults and $3 for children, 12 and under. Tickets can be purchased at the Garden Shop until 3:30 p.m.
Event: Turn Up the Quiet Worl Tour – Diana Krall
Venue: The Capitol Theatre – Port Chester
