Description: First Night is a celebration of the New Year through the arts. It is an alcohol free, family-friendly, public celebration that marks the passage from the old year to the new with art, ritual and festivity. The day is a multicultural, artistically unique, with countless professional musicians, artists, performance groups and exhibits that inspire thousands of people of all ages to attend each year. It’s also an affordable way for everyone to ring in the New Year. The day includes two spectacular fireworks shows at 6 p.m. and midnight in Bushnell Park that can be seen throughout the city by thousands of residents and visitors.

Venue: Jesup Green – Westport

Description: You can walk to all the venues in the downtown area, tons of venues for children of all ages, and fireworks, Toquet Hall open until 10 p.m. with great entertainment. Inflatable park for kids 4-9pm at Saugatuck Elementary School. Horsedrawn carriages 3:30pm-7:30pm Pyrotechnic display at 10 p.m. from a barge in the river.

Event: NYE One Providence Ball Drop & Festivities
Venue: Waterplace Park – Providence

Description: This event, presented by Mayor Elorza and Skyline at Waterplace, will begin at 7 p.m. and is FREE to the public. Enjoy food trucks, as Financial Way will be closed, hot chocolate, face painting, music, a laser light show around the basin of Waterplace Park, the countdown with the first-ever ball drop, a fireworks finale and MUCH more! For the first time, Providence will host a classic New Year’s Eve “ball drop,” but with a special twist: the “ball” will be projected against the city’s iconic “Superman” building located at 111 Westminister, which may be viewed from the venue and Waterplace Park.
