Event: Bethlehem Christmas Town Festival

Description: Highlights of the festival include a Roaming Railroad choo-choo train ride, hay rides, more than 70 vendors selling handcrafted items just in time for holiday shopping, and a 5K Road Race on Saturday morning sponsored by the First Mile Race Management Company. Plus a multitude of delicious food choices to make everyone’s visit complete. The Festival surrounds Bethlehem’s town green, at the junction of Route 61 and Route 132. All the buildings and churches participating in the festival are brimming with activities and Christmas spirit. On Friday night at 6 p.m. is the opening ceremony, where a “surprise” celebrity guest will help Santa light the town’s beautiful 75-foot Christmas tree. Santa will stay for the balance of the festival, giving families the opportunity to take their own memorable photos.

Description: Enjoy an evening of festive luminaria, outdoor fires, popcorn, roasted marshmallows, hot chocolate, hot cider, Connecticut’s oldest house after dark, the Holidaze display, natural holiday ornaments crafts, and a reading of The Night Before Christmas.
Event: Holiday Open House at the Colony House
Venue: Washington Square – Newport
Date: December 1
Description: Start the season with the Newport Historical Society’s annual Holiday Open House. Visit the 1739 Colony House on Washington Square and hear hymns performed by costumed interpreters that were once sung in colonial Newport. A handout with lyrics will be provided, audience participation is encouraged. Admission is free, donations are welcome. Christmas in Newport’s official opening and tree lighting ceremony in Washington Square follows.
Event: Wreath-Making Workshop

Description: Blithewold’s Garden Manager Gail Read and Horticulturist Betsy Eckholm’s design ideas and assembly tips will guide you in creating one-of-a-kind holiday wreaths. You will also be able to choose your greens from a wide variety of plant material, much of which is pre-cut from Blithewold’s collection of unique evergreens.

Event: Holidays on the Hill
Venue: Lasdon Park – Armonk

Description: Join us this holiday season at Lasdon Park for our Holidays on the Hill event! Santa will be hearing children’s wishes in The Main House from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.! Bring your camera to capture this special moment! Model trains will be chugging through the main house, which will feature a fully decorated poinsettia tree, and include holiday displays of Rudolf, Charlie Brown and the Grinch. The Lasdon Conservatory will be open with the debut of “Tropical Christmas Treasures,” highlighting tropical plants used during the holidays. In addition to the holiday hours, the conservatory will be open Tuesday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Admission is $5 adults and $3 children 12 and under.
