Summer is coming to an end, the kids are heading back to school, and fair season is here! What will you be doing this Labor Day weekend? Here’s some ideas on how to enjoy this four-day weekend.
Event: 157th Annual Woodstock Fair
Venue: Woodstock Fairgrounds – South Woodstock
Date: September 1st-4th
Description: he state’s second oldest agricultural fair featuring crafts, lots of food, livestock shows, petting zoo, free stage shows, midway, go-kart races, Better Living Center, vegetables, flowers, strolling entertainers, and much more.
Event: 105th Annual Goshen Fair
Venue: Goshen Fairgrounds – Goshen
Date: September 2nd-4th
Description: Major agricultural fair with livestock judging, draft horse show, woodcutting competition, entertainment, food vendors, midway, arts and crafts, home exhibits, and more. This celebration includes an adult spelling bee, fireworks, hay bale toss contest, parade, pie eating contest, and a skillet throw contest.
Event: 20th Annual Rhythm and Roots Festival
Venue: Ninigret Park – Charlestown
Date: September 1st-3rd
Description: The festival, to be held at Ninigret Park in Charlestown Sept. 1,2,3, is opening for the first time at noon Friday to squeeze in more music, food, crafts and dancing. More than 10,000 attendees are expected, some of whom have brought their families to Rhythm & Roots every year. Noon to midnight all three days.
Event: Walk, Paddle and BBQ
Venue: Blackstone Park – Providence
Date: September 4th
Description: East Coast Greenway Alliance, Seekonk Riverbank Revitalization Alliance, Blackstone Parks Conservancy, & Rhode Island Rivers Council invite the public to a walk or paddle & BBQ at Blackstone Park on Sept. 4. Walkers & paddlers will begin at 3:00 pm & finish by 5:00 pm for a BBQ at Blackstone Park.
Venue: 381 N. Broadway – Sleepy Hollow
Date: September 2nd-4th
Description: Feast on a bounty of corn-centric delicacies and take part in a bevy of hands-on, corn-related activities at the Lower Hudson Valley’s only corn festival. Play games, compete in corn shucking races, and learn how to make a corn husk broom. Enjoy both modern and historic cooking demonstrations, and discover the irresistible charm of English country dancing in the barn. Enjoy live bluegrass and folk music.
Event: Ossining Waterfront Concert Series
Venue: Louis Engel Waterfront Park – Ossining
Date: September 1st
Description: Come to the Ossining Waterfront for this year’s Summer Concert Series! All concerts are scheduled for Friday evenings at 7pm unless otherwise noted. September 1st will be The Old Mill Singers. Rain location is the Ossining High School Auditorium at 29 South Highland Avenue.
