Courtney Montgomery worked in television production until the birth of her second child, when she refocused her professional attention to home renovations.
“I’ve worked on enough home and lifestyle shows during my career and managed teams, schedules and budgets, that the transition was pretty natural for me,” Montgomery recalled.
One of the properties that caught Montgomery’s eye was 26 Carleton St. in Greenwich, where a 1957 colonial stood.
“This house really spoke to me when I visited the property last fall. I saw the potential and knew what a rebuild could do and the before-and-after, I think, is pretty impressive,” Montgomery said.
She put together a dream team to transform the property, enlisting Gary Zarra of Zarra LLC as the builder and architect David Neff. Dena Zarra of Berkshire Hathaway HomeServices was hired to list the property once complete. It is listed for $1.849 million.
“Our big-picture goal was to create a great, open concept, to make entertaining and everyday life easy,” Montgomery said. “Every bedroom has a full bathroom that, at this price point, isn’t common. This house also appeals to a variety of buyers, which was another goal. A family could easily walk in and make this their forever home, while a couple could easily downsize to this space, especially with a first floor bedroom and full bath.”
